Shamis began her healthcare career as a Respiratory Therapist at the prestigious Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at St. Xavier University in
Chicago. After 14 years of direct patient care at Northwestern and experiencing a health crisis in her own family, Shamis decided to broaden her scope of nursing practice and received here Master of Science in Nursing through Simmons University and is Board Certified by the AANP as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Shamis is passionate about educating and guiding her patients on the miraculous body and its remarkable ability to heal itself. Shamis believes the mind, body, and soul work together in the healing process. She is an advocate for individualized, holistic, patient-centered approach to health. She believes that patient empowerment is key in establishing a partnership to achieve true health. Shamis is the proud mother of two adoring daughters. Shamis is originally from Iraq and grew up in Sweden. She is fluent in Swedish and Arabic.
